Pattern for sling bag

Cast on enough sts for the width you want the bottom of the bag. I used 26 sts on size 7 needles. Knit until length needed for width of bag. Mine was 10 1/2 inches long. Pick up sts all around. Work 3 rnds even. Next rnd inc in every other st, Next rnd inc every st. Work 20 rnds even. Next rnd. Dec every st. Next rnd dec every other st. Now work even until deep enough. Keep 24 sts each end in st st and work a 1/1 rib in between for 1 inch. BO ribbed sts and slip 24 st st sts to holder. Working on first 24 sts, always sl 1st st of row. Sl 1, K2tog, K across to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. Next row Sl 1, purl across. Rpt these 2 rows for pattern. When you reach 10 sts work even until desired length of handles. Put rem sts on holder. Work other handle the same. Put sts from holder on a needle and work a 3 needle BO for a neat seam. Weave in ends.
I put a rectangle of plastic needlepoint canvas in the bottom of the bag to hold its shape.
I used Lily's Sugar and Cream cotton yarn. 1 skein in each color. Size 7 circular needles. I used a 24 inch and a 36 inch.
Please do not sell this pattern.
Enjoy !!
