size 7 needles
knitting worsted #4 yarn
1 yard ribbon cut in half
CO 40, 42 or 44 and work in k2 p2 ribbing for 20 rows. Change to st st for 20 rows. Next row k1, yo and k2tog. Yo and k2tog across row end yo, k1. Next row P across. Work 5 rows in k2, p2 ribbing. You may have to k2 tog to get back to even number of sts for ribbing. Bind off.Sew in ends.
Sew bottom ribbing together , end off. Sew rest of mitt from top down toward ribbing stopping an inch ,inch and a quarter and an inch and a half for thumb opening. Insert ribbon in middle eyelet on front of mitt and each eyelet around, ending in eyelet closest to start. Tie in bow and trim ends on an angle. The smallest size is great for older children/teens or small woman's hand. Medium fits average woman and the large will fit a man, do not add eyelets or bow! Use a size 8 needle for thee man size.
